I am a very small hobby breeder of miniature and toy schnauzers. All of my dogs are AKC registered. I decided to start breeding miniature schnauzers because I absolutely adore them. Many people have asked me why I do not have more litters per year and the answer is simple....I prefer to stay small!! I do not breed each and every heat cycle. I work outside the home and these dogs are my HOBBY. I always love having the puppies around, but I don't have time to be a full time breeder. I want to focus on each and every litter and if my schedule is going to be full, then we do not breed the females. The puppies and mom are most important when I have a new litter. All my attention is devoted to them and their well-being. They are raised in the house from day 1 until they leave my care. They are pre-spoiled and are very used to being around children and all household noises. This makes the transition to their new homes much, much easier. There is a definite difference in puppies that are handled from day 1 and raised in the house, rather than being raised in a kennel. I also prefer to have 1 litter at a time....more time to spoil each puppy! It has happened when I had more than 1 litter and it was very challenging to keep up with that many puppies at once. They require ALOT of attention and care. That is my responsibility as a breeder and to you, the potential buyer. They will all have their dewclaws and tails docked by 3 days old. No ear cropping is available. Puppies will be up to date on vaccinations and wormed at 2, 4, 6 weeks until they leave my home. If you have never owned a schnauzer, it will take you all of about 2 minutes to fall in love with their little bearded grins! They are non-shedding, easy to train and very loyal to their owners. In my opinion, there is no other breed to have! Size is something to consider when buying a schnauzer. The breed standard calls for a schnauzer to stand 12-14 inches in height. Anything under that height is considered a small mini or toy schnauzer. They still will be registered as a "miniature" schnauzer because AKC does not have a separate category for the toys at this time. You cannot base a toy on weight alone. It's very easy for some to say they have a toy, when in fact, it's a tall, skinny full size mini. For example, I have seen schnauzers that are 12 inches tall and weigh 10 pounds. The owner may call this a toy, but it's not. Any schnauzer that is at least 12 inches in height is a regular size miniature schnauzer...it does not matter what it weighs....it's not a toy. I have learned this the hard way and have been out lots of money being promised a toy or small mini when that was not the case at all. I will never PROMISE the adult size of any puppy. That cannot be determined by anyone. Be cautious when someone guarantees you the adult size of a puppy. Look at the parent's sizes and builds and that will give you a better idea of what you will be looking at in the future. Chances are if you don't like the look of the parents, you will not like a puppy out of them. I will try my very best to steer you straight when looking at a potential puppy. If I don't have what you like, then I have no problem at all referring you to another breeder that I have personally dealt with. The whole goal for me is to help people find a dog that will suit their needs and one they will be happy with forever. Please feel free to email me anytime with any questions or concerns you may have. |
