I am a very small hobby breeder of miniature and toy schnauzers. All of my dogs are AKC registered. All of my dogs are raised as pets and are not kennel dogs. Although on nice days, they do stay outside in their fenced area. They live in the house and are able to come and go freely outside to run and play. I have worked very hard to find dogs that have great temperaments, conformation, and nice thick coats. I decided to start breeding miniature schnauzers because I absolutely adore them. I have no intentions of ever being a large breeder and prefer to stay small. I have my hands full with the few that I have, and they are all spoiled rotten! I would not have it any other way. I have learned through experience that bigger is not always better! Although there are a few large breeders out there, that have excellent dogs that are very well cared for. All puppies that are born here are raised in the house and have their own special puppy room! They will all have their dewclaws and tails docked by 3 days old. No ear cropping is available. Puppies will be up to date on vaccinations and wormed at 2, 4, 6 weeks. If you have never owned a schnauzer, it will take you all of about 2 minutes to fall in love with their little bearded grins! They are non-shedding, easy to train and very loyal to their owners. In my opinion, there is no other breed to have! Size is something to consider when buying a schnauzer. The breed standard calls for a schnauzer to stand 12-14 inches in height. Anything under that height is considered a small mini or toy schnauzer. They still will be registered as a "miniature" schnauzer because AKC does not have a separate category for the toys at this time. You cannot base a toy on weight alone. It's very easy for some to say they have a toy, when in fact, it's a tall, skinny full size mini. For example, I have seen schnauzers that are 12 inches tall and weigh 10 pounds. The owner may call this a toy, but it's not. Any schnauzer that is at least 12 inches in height is a regular size miniature schnauzer...it does not matter what it weighs....it's not a toy. I have learned this the hard way and have been out lots of money being promised a toy or small mini when that was not the case at all. I will never PROMISE the adult size of any puppy. That cannot be determined by anyone. Be cautious when someone guarantees you the adult size of a puppy. Look at the parent's sizes and builds and that will give you a better idea of what you will be looking at in the future. Chances are if you don't like the look of the parents, you will not like a puppy out of them. I will try my very best to steer you straight when looking at a potential puppy. If I don't have what you like, then I have no problem at all referring you to another breeder that I have personally dealt with. The whole goal for me is to help people find a dog that will suit their needs and one they will be happy with forever. Please feel free to email me anytime with any questions or concerns you may have. |
